Physical awareness enhances sensory perception, attunement to other people's nonverbal cues, willingness to explore. It also strengthens the internal pause button to sit with awkward situations and challenging stories — skills that can benefit writers at every stage of their process. This interactive session will lead participants through a series of improv-based activities designed to help with everything from idea generation and interviewing to overcoming writer's block. We'll use movement, contact, and voice as tools to practice more creative interviewing, empathetic witnessing, adroit wordsmithing, and open-minded learning. By playing and cultivating curiosity, we hope to stoke the inner fire that inspires you to tell stories.
